Our History

Remember the days of old; consider the generations long past.
Ask your father and he will tell you, your elders, and they will explain to you.

-Deuteronomy 32:7 (NIV)

Our History

The present parish of Amanzimtoti was originally part of the Parish of Isipingo which stretched through the present areas of Isipingo, Prospecton, Queensburgh, Amanzimtoti, Kingsburgh to Karridene.

As the population of the area grew, new parishes were created: Kingsway (comprising Kingsburgh and Amanzimtoti), Queensburgh, and Isipingo.

In 1965, Kingsway was divided into two parishes - Amanzimtoti and Kingsburgh. The present Parish Church of the Good Shepherd was built in 1978–1979.

Previous Branches

The churches of the original Parish of Isipingo were:
• St. James and St. Mary Magdalene – Isipingo
• St. Mary the Virgin – Warner Beach
• St. Francis – Winklespruit
• St. John’s – Umbogintwini
• St. Peter and St. Paul – Amanzimtoti

Only the Church of St. Mary the Virgin in Warner Beach and the Church of St. James in Isipingo are still in use as member churches of the CPSA.
The Church of the Good Shepherd is now the result of the amalgamation of St. John, St. Peter, and St. Paul's.

Finding Strength in God's Presence

When life's challenges seem overwhelming, it's easy to feel lost and alone. But as children of God, we have a powerful source of strength and comfort available to us. In Philippians 4:13, we're reminded that "I can do all this through him who gives me strength." In times of uncertainty, let's turn to God and trust in His plan. Let's draw on the power of prayer and the support of our community to navigate life's ups and downs. With faith and perseverance, we can overcome any obstacle and emerge stronger and more resilient. May God's presence guide and strengthen you today and always. Remember, you're not alone, and with God, all things are possible. May you walk in faith and confidence, knowing that God's strength is made perfect in your weakness. May His love and peace surround you every step of the way.

Have faith, your answers are coming,
